LANGUAGE & CULTURE:
Highlands students engage weekly with other languages and cultures through their DCS-provided Spanish instruction. The Bright Key Language & Culture Program Team elected to come alongside this instruction with opportunities for students and their families to expand their worldview even further! The Program Team anticipates hosting an International Day each year where the diversity of the student body is displayed and explored. Highlands families have backgrounds all over the world, and the students will have the opportunity to learn about the culture and traditions in the countries that their peers hail from.
The Language & Culture Program Team also chose to focus on offering American Sign Language as a club for interested students. With deaf students on campus, the Program Team hopes that this will encourage other students to communicate and build friendships with deaf students. This club will utilize a partnership with the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind.
